African Universities Day

African Universities Day is a major event of the Association of African Universities.
African University Day was instituted following a decision by the Organization of African Unity (OAU), now African Union (AU) in 1994. The objective of this annual event is to sensitize people on the role of the African university in the economic and social development of Africa. The Day is celebrated on 12th November of each year around a topic of interest to higher education.

It is celbNovember 12th but was celebrated on Saturday November 11th at UNZA. There was a march, music, traditional dance, seminars, exhibitions, and a football (soccer) tournament.

Seminars included:
  1. The Role of Higher Educaton in promoting sustainable Development
  2. Promoting Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development
  3. Children and Youth in Development
  4. Role of Business and Industry in Promoting Sustainable Development
  5. Role of Gender in Promoting Sustainable Development
  6. HIV/AIDS and Sustainable Development
  7. Science and Sustainable Development
